An infectious disease specialist at UCC says face masks should be compulsory in any setting where people are in contact with others.

The National Bus and Rail Union are calling for face masks to be made mandatory on all public transport, however Professor Gerry Killeen says more stringent measures are needed to reduce the rate of Covid-19 infections.

The country is due to enter phase two of the roadmap to reopening the country on Monday with retail shops opening, increased attendances at funerals and the extension of the 5 kilometre rule to 20.

Speaking to RedFM News, Professor Killeen says a second outbreak is a possibility, but people can take precautions by sticking to social distancing and using facemasks:
