The INMO will meet with the Mercy University Hospital on Thursday to discuss Covid-19 patients being kept temporarily in their Emergency Department.
Although the patients are isolated, the union says it increases risk of infection for both patients and staff and they're calling for it to be urgently addressed.
The hospital has implemented their escalation policy in an attempt to ease overcrowding, however the union are describing the situation at the Mercy as "overcrowded, chaotic and dangerous."
Speaking to RedFM News Liam Conway of the INMO says that the current situation is a hazard for everyone.
"I think it is a priority for our members to protect the patients that they care for and themselves.
"However at present, the environment is causing a significant hazard to both patients and staff in terms of cross contamination and Covid-19 outbreaks."
