Her death is not being treated as suspicious, after she was found dead along the river at Brewery Road in Tralee yesterday morning.
Her body has been brought to the County Mortuary in the town for a post mortem exam.
Local Councillor Cathal Foley says anyone with information should contact Gardaí: "Of course it's very important for anyone in the area, or saw anything, or knows anything to contact Gardaí immediately, the family and friends of this person, are going to be in an awful state and they need answers, and they need them fairly quick."
