The clinic at St Finbarr's Hospital in the City say they are putting plans in place to keep stocks at a safe level and are asking anyone who is interested in donating blood to contact them.
A number of outpatient appointments have been cancelled, however some surgeries and all regional cancer services- which require blood and platelets- are going ahead as normal.
Speaking to RedFM News, Maureen Gill Emerson from the Irish Blood Transfusion Service says the supply of blood can change quickly:
