The Government is planning to reduce the five-day period of restricted movement for close contacts of people with Covid if they are fully boosted.

Currently boosted close contacts must limit their movements for five days with no symptoms while others have to restrict their movements for 10 days.

The Irish Times reports the change is designed to facilitate the return to work of employee close contacts in sectors with high levels of absenteeism.

Retail Excellence is calling for an urgent change to the rules.
