It's Hoped A New Food App Will Act As A Lifeline For Those Confined To Their Homes

The EatForIreland App has been created by two Cork men

It's designed to to connect people with independent Irish food producers and help businesses who are looking for a safe way of getting their products to market amid the Covid-19 crisis.

The app lists local food producers like cheesemakers, bakers, butchers, wine and craft beer retailers and offers a 'cook it yourself' and 'cooked for you' options.

Speaking to RedFM News, co-creator of the app, food writer Joe McNamee says the app is also suitable for people who are immunocompromised or stuck at home:
