The Labour Party says the government needs to take action now to make sure students can go back to school in September - even if social distancing has to be maintained.
Yesterday education minister Joe McHugh admitted it would be hard to see all students going back if they have to keep two metres of separation.
Labour senator Rebecca Moynihan says that's not good enough, and the government is failing to provide "leadership".
She says if it means hiring more staff and building prefabs, work needs to start now.
