A lack of consultation was the rock the Government's childcare plan perished on.
That's according to John Bowman from BEL Childcare in Douglas who says issues around insurance and paperwork were also factors that forced Minister Katherine Zappone to scrap the plan which was due to be rolled out on Monday.
Just six childcare providers out of a potential 5,000 signed up for the scheme, which it was hoped would allow front line healthcare staff to have their children minded.
The opening of crèches, childminders and pre-schools for children of essential workers is due to take place from the 29th of June as part of the easing of Covid restrictions.
