RedFM News has been contacted by some staff members in their Irish stores who say they have been told that Debenhams will not be reopening the stores when the Covid 19 restrictions are lifted.
The company temporarily closed all 11 of its stores last month as a result of the pandemic including it's stores on Patrick Street and in Mahon Point
A liquidator is to be appointed to the Irish operations in the coming days.
Earlier this week the retailer said it had filed a notice of intent (NOI) to appoint an administrator to it's UK stores and at the time said its Irish stores would be unaffected by the decision.
Trade union Mandate has described the news that Debenhams Irish operations are set to go into liquidation as "the worst news at the worst time".
Employees at the company's 11 Irish stores - including two here in Cork - are said to be devastated and shocked by the news that the shops are not expected to re-open in Ireland
