Management at Cork Airport welcome Government's funding announcement

Management at Cork Airport say today's funding announcement by the Government will help the airport regrow the business to become the economic driver it is here in Cork and across the country.

The Government is to provide funding for operational and capital assistance for the Airport as well as the introduction of a new national airport charges rebate scheme covering the period January to March 2021.

€22m in operational and capital funding has been announced for Cork and Shannon Airports, which is in addition to the €10m in capital funding announced in Budget 2021.

This funding announcement comes just weeks after Ryanair confirmed that they are grounding flights at Cork Airport from November 14th to December 12th, a move which Cork Airport described as a "body blow" however they said they would not be closing as they continue to have two airlines serving three routes
