That's according to SIPTU, which is addressing a specially-convened Oireachtas Committee meeting to discuss the recent increase in cases in processing plants.
The union claims 40 employees are sharing accommodation at one location in the midlands, and 90 per cent of workers don't have sick pay, meaning they're forced to work, even if they've symptoms of the virus.
Meat Industry Ireland and the Health and Safety Authority will address the committee later.
