The public health advice is for those who haven't been fully protected against the worst effects of Covid-19 to take extra measures to protect themselves.
There are concerns that as hospitals are completing a lot of non-Covid care which was delayed due the pandemic that it wouldn't take many admissions due to the Delta strain to put extra pressure on the facilities.
Dr Mary Favier says if you're not fully vaccinated the next few weeks will be concerning:
"If you're not vaccinated or indeed not fully vaccinated, do not go to places which put you at risk, which is really do not do things that are inside. Do not take your mask off. We've got 2, 3 or 4 weeks to really try and stay ahead of this.!
