Independent TD for Clare Michael McNamara has been elected as the chairman of the new Dáil COVID-19 committee.
The Independent was elected chair early this afternoon, beating out Sinn Féin's David Cullinane.
Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil put their support behind the Independent candidate, along with the Greens and Labour.
Michael McNamara thanked those who voted for him in the Dáil chamber this afternoon.
