Finding a balance between managing health concerns and the economic impact of the Covid-19 pandemic will be impossible for some industries.

That's according to Cork property developer Michael O'Flynn who says social distancing rules can be implemented to ensure the safety of people on building sites.

Work is taking place on around 35 social housing developments around the country, however the restrictions on movement and social distancing still apply to those working on private developments.

Speaking to RedFM News, Michael O'Flynn says while the hospitality sector will take longer to get back up and running, the construction industry will be able to operate under the current conditions.

"I'm not for one moment saying that economic takes precedence over health, but I do think there's a balance to be found.

"I think some of the industries are going to find it very hard to make that case, because of the nature of pubs and restaurants and all of that.

"We have to look at industries that can operate, and can operate safely but differently, and I think we would be one of those."
