The government has announced that all pubs in the country have been asked to close from tonight.
The decision follows criticism and concern from the public and members of the government that people were still congregating in pubs despite the warnings about social distancing.
The new measures will also include hotel bars and have been asked to remain closed from this evening until at least 29th March.
The Government is also calling on all members of the public not to organise or participate in any parties in private houses or other venues which would put other peoples’ health at risk,
The Licenced Vintners' Association and the Vintners' Federation of Ireland are backing the government's call.
