Nearly one in five leaving cert students will receive a grade lower than their school's estimated result

Nearly one in five leaving cert students will receive a grade lower than their school's estimated result for them.

The Cabinet's agreed not to use schools’ track records to determine how students would've done, if they'd sat the State exams.

83% of students are due to receive a grade based on their teachers’ estimate, or higher, while 17% will get below the school prediction.

An additional 1,250 higher education places are being created for the class of 2020.

Minister for Higher and Further Education Simon Harris says they'll be for high-demand courses:
