About two thirds of the 66 Covid patients in ICUs are unvaccinated, according to the Intensive Care Society.
The number of patients in hospital with the virus dropped to 291 last night - after rising above 300 over the weekend.
The five-day moving average of new cases has dropped by 4 per cent in the past week, and now stands at 1,272.
Dr Alan Gaffney, the vice-president of the Intensive Care Society, says there's a noticeable difference in Covid patients in ICUs.
"In the unvaccinated group they tend to be a little bit younger, the average age is about 51. That compares to the fully vaccinated group where the average age is in the late 60s.
"In general, there's an unvaccinated group that are a little bit younger that have significantly less comorbidities.
"Then you have a vaccinated group that are older but have more significant background illnesses."
