Gardai say that new members of the force being sworn in this morning will be mainly involved in community policing during the coronavirus outbreak.
Over 300 members are being attested early at Templemore today in response to the crisis.
There are now 14,758 Gardai of all ranks, the largest its ever been in the history of the state.
