New advice suggests TDs can't spend longer than two hours in a day inside the Dáil chamber.
The COVID-19 committee has been given medical advice saying is someone spends more than 2 hours in an enclosed space with someone they are considered a contact for public health purposes.
That means if 10 TDs held a three hour debate, and one of them showed symptoms over the next two days, all 10 would have to self isolate.
The advice also says there's little benefit to taking 20 minutes between Dáil sessions to clear the chamber.
The advice will have a knock on impact for how Dáil sittings and committees are held during the crisis.
