New study reveals there is a backlog of over 16,000 postponed surgeries in Irish hospitals due to Coronavirus

There's a backlog of over 16,400 postponed surgeries in Irish hospitals due to the coronavirus, according to a new study.

University of Birmingham researchers says it will only be possible to clear 179 operations from the list every week.

At that rate, it would take about two years to clear the backlog.

But Dr Martin Daly, a former president of the Irish Medical Organisation, says it should be possible to do better than that:
