Traffic volumes remain in line with previous weeks since travel restrictions were introduced.
Transport Infrastructure Ireland carried out surveys of the roads this week and saw no 'noticeable increase'.
It had been reported this week that people had noticed more traffic on the roads.
However Elizabeth Canavan from the Department of the Taoiseach says TII is monitoring road usage.
"Earlier this week Transport Infrastructure Ireland took an analysis of the traffic figures for this week, and the volumes are are in line with the previous weeks since the restrictions were introduced.
"Spot checks on roads show no noticeable increase, most are within 5% of the average weekday volumes under the current restrictions."
