The Social Protection Minister says there are no plans to re-open the Pandemic Unemployment Payment.
Heather Humphreys says the number of people on the live register has actually fallen in the last week.
That's despite the hospitality sector reporting a big drop off in business since the midnight curfew was introduced.
Minister Heather Humphreys says that isn't translating to job losses at the moment.
"The Department has not seen an increase in applications for jobseekers payments in the last week.
"In fact, the opposite has happened and the numbers on the live register have actually fallen to approximately 165,000 this week.
"This does not point to any significant layoffs because of the midnight closing time."
