254 people are receiving treatment
That's down from 354 two and a half weeks ago - while 35 people are in ICUs.
The head of the HSE, Paul Reid, says the numbers are really encouraging.
Donegal GP, Dr Denis McCauley, says a fall in the 14 day incidence rate to 129 cases per 100,000 also shows the country's moving in the right direction:
'The 7 day average for Ireland is actually 60, which is really good. Now, that will only be good if next week we keep doing the same as we're doing this week. If we start to get complacent that figure will actually go up. If we do what we did this week next week; that 14 day average will be under 100.'
