In a statement this morning, the committee and Kinsale Rugby Club say the have been monitoring developments with the pandemic and made the decision after considering the safety of the town and their players, staff and supporters.
The annual competition is held on the May Bank Holiday weekend and attracts thousands of spectators and plays to the town.
The committee say they are now turning their attention to making plans for the 2023 tournament.
A tough decision has been made. Unfortunately, the Heineken Kinsale 7s won't be going ahead in 2022 💔
"Apologies to all those looking forward to next years event, the Heineken Kinsale 7s Committee. Hope to see you all in 2023 🤞"
