Over 3,200 people are waiting for a driving test in Cork City

Driving test backlogs of up to 30 weeks are unlikely to improve until mid-2021

The Road Safety Authority is advising people that the wait times for tests in some cases have increased to 7 months due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The RSA says the delays sprang from the fact that the driving test service was shut down for over four months and test only resumed on a gradual basis at the end of July.

The centres are operating at 75% capacity due to Covid-19 restrictions in order to comply with health and safety and keep staff and customers safe.

Speaking to RedFM News the RSA's Brian Farrell says they're taking a number of measures to get the wait time back down:
