The Health Minister’s confirmed everyone over the age of 60 is going to be offered a covid vaccine booster.
They will be given an mRNA shot which is Pfizer or Moderna, regardless of what their original dose was.
However no decision has been made on whether healthcare workers are to be given a booster.
Minister Stephen Donnelly says he would like to see them get an extra jab.
"My belief is that there is a very strong case for healthcare workers.
"The healthcare workers that I'm talking to are making the case very strongly to protect themselves, to protect their hospitals, to protect patients.
"We're obviously being led by NIAC advice with this, the public put a lot of trust in that, so NIAC are looking at it and I'm in close engagement with the CMO on that."
