Parents can register their children aged between 5 and 11 on an online portal for Covid vaccinations from today.
Children with high-risk conditions, or who live with someone who is more at risk, will be offered an appointment in a vaccine centre from next Monday, 3rd January.
Ken Murray reports for RedFM News:
"Online registration for children aged 5 to 11 requiring Covid 19 vaccinations is open from today.
Children aged 5 to 11 will get an appointment to receive a vaccine at a vaccination centre.
Children in this age group however cannot get vaccinated at a walk-in vaccination clinic or pharmacy.
5 to 11 year olds will be offered a Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine with a smaller dose.
The immunity they get will be similar to the higher dose vaccine used in older age groups.
From 8 January 2022, all other children aged 5 to 11 will be offered a vaccine."
