People asked to limit number of social contacts following nationwide rise in coronavirus cases

People are being called on to limit their number of social contacts following a nationwide rise in coronavirus cases over the past week.

GP's are warning the daily case average now stands at 75 - it was 10 back in June.

The average number of contacts for confirmed cases has also now increased to six from one during lockdown.

It comes as new figures up to August 7th show 1,587 confirmed cases of COVID19 have been in Cork, while 51 deaths associated with COVID19 have also been recorded.

Covid-19 lead at the Irish College of General Practitioners, Dr. Nuala O'Connor, says the likes of house parties are a particular concern:
