Anyone with Covid symptoms should not socialise, go to work or send their child to school no matter how mild the symptoms are.
That's according to the Chief Medical Officer, who has re-iterated that anyone who is feeling unwell should isolate and contact a GP.
The symptoms include a fever, cough, loss of taste or smell, runny or blocked nose, aches or headaches, vomiting, diarrhoea, aches, fatigue,a sore throat or shortness of breath.
DCU Professor of Health Systems, Anthony Staines, says the advice makes sense, but schools still need more public health support.
"There's no back up and support, and although people have been asking for it since March of last year there is still no adequate puiblic health resource to do contact tracing.
"One of the reason we have the fairly high and steady number of cases at the moment is that we're throwing everything on to vaccination and people's behaviour."
