P&O Ferries is planning to make 1,100 people redundant because of the financial impact of coronavirus.

It says it needs to "right-size" its business because it’s operating a reduced number of vessels, following a downturn in demand.

The proposal would mean more than a quarter of the workforce losing their jobs.

P&O currently operates a number of Irish Sea crossings, including from Dublin to Liverpool.
