The Port of Cork have announced a temporary suspension of cruise liners docking in Cork amid the escalating global outbreak.
Over ten thousand tourists were due to visit via Cobh, the city and Bantry between now and the end of April, however the Port have confirmed these visits have now been cancelled
The schedule had been criticised earlier this month over claims the number of tourists posed an increased infection transmission risk.
A spokesperson for the port says the cancellations will have a significant impact on the local ecomony and they fully support government initiatives to help business impacted by the spread of the virus.
The Port has also confirmed that freight operations will continue as normal
