They will align with primary and secondary schools across Ireland.
In a statement yesterday Children's minister Roderic O'Gorman said the state-funded ECCE programme will be delayed to allow families more time to reduce their contacts.
The pre-schools had been due to return on January 6th, with 100,000 children under the ages of 5 affected by the delay.
