The travel industry has been decimated by the Covid-19 pandemic

Michael Doorley's comments come after the Government's decision to adopt the EU's traffic light system for international travel, as well as the opening of 2 drive-thru Covid-19 testing facilities at Cork and Shannon Airports earlier this week.

Tests at these facilities start at 149 euro and increase in price depending on the type of test you choose.

Speaking to RedFM News, Michael Doorley of the ITAA says these are 2 huge steps towards saving the travel industry and providing safe international travel against the backdrop of the pandemic:

'We've welcomed it, both the traffic light system, and now, the testing at airports in Cork, in Dublin and Shannon. It's very welcome. If you get tested and you're negative, and everybody going on board, then you know that everyone going on board the aircraft is negative. So it's a more relaxed and a less worried experience to fly then so both those, the traffic light system and testing at airports are very welcome.'
