The school is closed until the 8th of December after 17 students and staff tested positive for the virus.

The Echo reports Síobhán Ní Chatháin of Gaelscoil Uí Drisceoil says public health authorities should have contacted the school sooner after a number of cases in the wider community were identified.

Precautionary testing of all students, teachers and staff began at the school yesterday.

The paper reports Ms Ní Chatháin says she is "upset beyond belief" by the closure.

The HSE says the outbreak is being investigated and they are working closely with the school.
