The Taoiseach says public health advice will always be central to Ireland's approach to Covid-19.
Micheál Martin is due to announce a roadmap tomorrow evening for how the remaining restrictions will be dropped in the coming weeks...
It's expected to include a date for the return of live events as well as communions and confirmations and when people can return to the office.
Speaking to RedFM News, Taoiseach Micheál Martin says while the future of NPHET is up for review, public health advice will play a vital role in reopening.
"Those countries that had public health advice at the core did best in terms of mortality, in terms of incidence and in terms of managing it.
"From my perspective, as a former Minister of Health, public health advice is critical, and the chief medical officer leads that and will continue to lead that."
