The Pandemic Unemployment Payment's to be entirely removed by February 2022.

The wage support will be phased out in three stages, starting in September.

The PUP will close to new applicants on July 1st and students will no longer be eligible from September.

It's part of the broader National Economic Plan that will set out recovery targets for creating jobs over the next 18 months.

Social Democrats TD, Gary Gannon, says he has concerns about the planned cut.

"If a worker can't return to their employment, they shouldn't see a cut off from their payment.

"I'm talking about people in the events industry, I'm talking about musicians - anywhere where there might be a crowd.

"If €350 was seen as a suitable payment for the last 15 months, then there's no reason that shouldn't continue while a person is prohibited from access their workplace."
