His comments come after Ryanair threatened to close its bases in Cork and Shannon airports from October to March if the government doesn't relax the restrictions on foreign travel.

About 130 staff would be put on unpaid leave for the six months if the airports are closed

When contacted by RedFM News Cork Airport say they don't comment on individual airlines but confirmed that a briefing is taking place on Monday with Cork members of the Oireachtas on developments at the airport
