The head of the HSE, Paul Reid, says a "hugely disproportionate" number of people with Covid-19 in ICUs are unvaccinated.
66 covid patients are receiving intensive care in hospitals today - down seven in the past 24 hours.
New figures show vaccinated people have accounted for 17 percent of ICU admissions since April.
Damien McCallion from the HSE's vaccination programme, says the evidence is really strong that vaccines provide protection against severe illness and mortality:
"I guess that's the key message that we would say to people, particularly for those people now who remain on vaccinators to read that information study the information, look at the facts, and then make the decision from there."
