Archbishop Eamon Martin, the country's most senior Catholic priest, has welcomed the announcement that places of worship will be re-opening at the end of the month.

Religious services will resume from June 29th, with social distancing and other guidelines in place.

Churches around Ireland have been adapting to Covid-19 measures by streaming services online instead.

Bishops will meet over video call next week to discuss and finalise a plan for the return of mass.
