The Oireachtas media committee's expected to agree to ask RTE management to appear before it, surrounding breaches of Covid-19 guidelines.

Several of the broadcaster's stars were photographed at a retirement event with no masks or no social-distancing.

Miriam O'Callaghan, Bryan Dobson Eileen Dunne and David McCullagh have all issued apologies for their "lapse in judgement".

The Oireachtas committee's chair, Niamh Smyth, says the breaches will be discussed by members today.

"I'm not in the business of a witch hunt, or scapegoating people, or looking for people's heads.

"I am sincerely in the business of bringing clarity to the matter, and regaining public confidence that RTE is adhering to the same guidelines that everyone else is across the country.

"And it's with that in mind that I would hope that we would be in a position to extend that invitation to RTE."
