The Chief Medical Officer's advised people not to travel to Ireland from abroad for Christmas due to the risk of importing Covid-19.

Head of Ryanair, Eddie Wilson, says they'll be putting on around 40 extra flights in the week leading up to Christmas Day due to increased demand.

He says people travelling home will be responsible:

"International travel gets a bad rap, particularly from NPHET, who have been wrong about this consistently. If you look at what happened during the summer they were against people travelling from countries that had lower rates than Ireland, and now it seems to be the opposite. At some stage like people are going to have to start to travel and people who are coming home for Christmas to their  families are going to be absolutely responsible about it"
