That's according to the REA Average House Price Survey, which looks at the actual sale price of the average Irish home.

House prices have risen on average by 3,500 euro per month since the end of June.

The price of the average second-hand three-bed semi in Cork has risen by 4.9% to €203,000 in the past three months.

REA Group Spokesperson Barry McDonald says the biggest rises over the last three months were in commuter counties and large rural towns:

"Tipperary has seen an increase over the last three months of 9.2%, which is just staggering. That's not only just in that area of Ireland, Donegal's seen an increase of over 8%, Kilkenny 7%, and this is mirrored throughout the country."
