The HSE is supporting residents at at a nursing home in Midleton following a serious Covid-19 outbreak.
The Irish Examiner reports a small number of residents from Ballincurrig Care Centre have been hospitalised while the majority who tested postive are being treated at the centre.
The HSE says there are more than 60 outbreaks in facilities such as nursing homes, community hospitals and disability centres and are appealing for people with relevant qualifications to volunteer as healthcare assistants and nurses.
Cork Kerry Community Healthcare say they have also requested the assistance of the Defence Forces to free up staff for frontline duties.
