The Irish Examiner reports a range of services could be impacted

The paper says public parks could be closed on a temporary basis, legal challenges to parking tickets may go undefended and anti-social behaviour may increase due to a reduced security budget.

The loss of commercial rates will be compensated by the government, however income from parking charges, planning fees and landfill fees fell dramatically when lockdown was introduced in March.

The cuts could also mean reduced street sweeping, the suspension of the Japanese Knotweed eradication programme and less money for road and footpath maintenance.
