The Health Minister says further measures will be introduced to tackle the spread of Covid-19 in care facilities.
There are now 140 coronavirus clusters in nursing homes across the country.
The National Public Health Emergency Team will discuss the issue at a meeting this morning.
Minister Simon Harris says he will also meet health officials about the subject today.
"Nine out of ten people who have died have been over 65.
"So we need to mind people who are particularly vulnerable, accepting that fact that this virus is one that can. be particularly severe.
"We'll continue to put in place all of the plans that we can, we're already doing everything we can to support nursing homes, but to ramp. up that support further.
"It's not just nursing homes, it's also residential settings like disability settings and mental health settings as well."
