That's according to new research from two Cork based doctors
Dr Cathal O'Connor and Dr Michelle Murphy work at the South Infirmary Victoria Hospital and looked at a number of false messages circulating in Cork and across the country in the early days of the pandemic.
The research has been published in the British Medical Journal and calls for doctors to confront fake news and for the public to ensure they are getting information about the pandemic from credible sources rather than social media.
