Speculation mounts about easing of some COVID19 restrictions sooner than indicated in roadmap

Ministers will consider easing Covid 19 restrictions sooner if the number of cases continues to decline.

Some aspects of phase four could be brought forward to the end of June, according to the Irish Times.

It comes as a number of senior ministers are reportedly keen to reduce the two metre social distancing rule to one to help businesses.

Professor Luke O’Neill from Trinity College says the science behind this is unclear:
