St Vincent de Paul is warning Ireland's poorest families will take a serious financial hit during the covid-19 emergency measures.
It says the income security measures announced yesterday won't help those depending on social welfare.
SVP's Head of Social Justice Dr Tricia Keilthy says there will be difficult weeks ahead for those in poverty
She says the charity is looking for 443 million euro worth of additional supports for them.
"Many kids will be without school meals. Families will be faced with additional heating costs.
"It's really important that there's targeted support there for children and families in poverty.
"We'd also like to see an extension of the fuel allowance until the end of April, and we'd also like to see a double social welfare payment to help people to get the supplies that they need."
