The Pandemic Unemployment Payment will reopen next week to applicants who lose their jobs as a result of these restrictions.
A Commercial Rates Waiver for businesses in the hospitality and live entertainment sector has been confirmed for the first quarter of 2022.
Tanaiste Leo Varadkar has announced additional supports to sectors affected by the new restrictions:
"So the Pandemic Unemployment Payments will be reopened on a temporary basis to those who are laid off as a consequence of these decisions being made tonight. We don't think that will be a very large number of people; it may be in the thousands, but there will be people laid off over the weekend and next week, who had expected to be working in the nightclub sector and the entertainment sector in particular. For you, the Pandemic Unemployment Payment will be reopened and Minister Humphreys will detail that in the coming days."
