Tánaiste says recovery will be quicker with new wage compensation measures

It's hoped a new wage compensation package being introduced by the Government to help people through the COVID19 crisis will also help the economy bounce back quickly.

Employers will receive a subsidy of 70% of a worker's net wage up to €38,000 a year - while the Pandemic Unemployment Payment will rise to €350 a week.

Trade Unions have welcomed the move while the Small Firms Association say the new supports will provide some much needed breathing space.

Speaking on the Neil Prendeville Show on Cork's RedFM Tánaiste Simon Coveney says the new measures mean when this passes employers won't have to start a recruitment process and employees won't have to worry:
